Although having your own home built may seem a bit daunting, there are plenty of benefits of a custom-built home.

Have it Your Way. For many buyers, finding that elusive dream home can be a difficult task. With a custom-built home, however, you can get exactly what you want and you won’t have to settle for something that you may not need in a new home.

The Latest and Greatest. Are you looking for a home with the latest smart home technology or state-of-the-art appliances? By having a new construction home built to your specifications, you can get all the newest advancements in housing. Also, you can build “green”—with renewable energy sources, waste reduction measures, etc.—and have your home be more energy-efficient.

A Solid Investment. Since home values are constantly rising, a new construction home is a great investment. You can also increase the value of your investment by building with an eye towards current trends, such as a home with a dedicated home office or a multi-generational home.

Low Interest Rates. Now may be a great time to build a new home due to the current interest rate environment. The interest rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage is at an all-time low, with rates at or below 3.0 percent. If you’re looking to have your own home built, these low rates could mean that you can get more home for your money or upgrade your amenities.

Availability of Contractors. With the restrictions due to the pandemic, many home contractors and sub-contractors are in need of business. This can certainly work to your advance as they may be more flexible to work on your schedule. Plus, some contractors may offer discounts or free upgrades on certain types of construction projects.
